One of the fun things that we were able to do over the winter vacation was take the kids skiing for the first time while we were in Salt Lake at Jason's parents house for Christmas. Actully, Jason and Jason's dad took the kids skiing and I just went along to document the experience. There would have been no hope of me teaching the kids how to ski and I'm sure that Mirielle could probably now almost out ski me!

One of the ski resorts had ski free after 3 which we thought would be a great way to get the kids started out. They absolutely LOVED it! After a few runs on the bunny hill they were off on the lifts and headed down the big mountain. I heard they were quite the dare devils. Kellan even got mad that Grandpa wouldn't let him ski by himself!

I think she's feeling pretty proud of herself!

Nice and rosy after a fun afternoon!

Not so funny

I was talking to my parents the other day and they were telling me that I needed to get blogging because my last post was from Kellan's birthday in October. I laughed and laughed at them and told them they were nuts. There was no way that it had been 4 months since my last blog post! I laughed until I pulled up this blog and low and behold, there was a picture of Kellan on his birthday. Not so funny anymore.

NEGLIGENT

I guess that would be the most appropriate word in regards to my care of this blog. When we created this blog we were headed back to the Philippines and had lots of interesting news to share. Now that we are here in the States and settled into our ministry at Moody, interesting news is a little more scarce and hard to come by. I guess I need to get creative so that this blog ends up being more than just the yearly birthday pictures!

Here is to new beginnings!

4 years

My baby turned 4 last week. Pretty crazy to think about where our life was 4 years ago and where we have traveled since then. This kid has a lot of miles on him for being 4. I love this little man like nothing else. He has such a sweet spirit and has my heart wrapped around his little finger. It just kills me to think of him growing up. I don't ever want those sweet baby cheeks to go away.

This growing guy got a big boy bike for his birthday. He has been making tracks on the trike all summer, but a couple of weeks ago during a trip to REI, he got on a kids bike with training wheels and was flying around the store and weaving in and out of the racks (supervised and out of the way of course!). So we decided that if this guy was going to ever keep up with his dad, he needed a real bike. He LOVES it! Happy Birthday Kellan!

The Blazing Hibachis

Last weekend we were able to go to a bocce ball tournament out at a beautiful old mansion just outside of town. The tournament was a fundraiser for a local ministry here that gets underprivileged kids outdoors and exploring God's amazing creation. The Moody guys raised enough money for 3 teams, one of which was the Blazing Hibachis. There were prizes awarded for the best team names and team costumes. While the guys tried being creative, they weren't creative enough to win first.

The Smurfs took home first on the most creative costume. Mirielle was really excited to go say hi to them until I told her that they were really just guys in blue paint.

The release

The love birds
And I was quite content chasing the kids around with my camera. The lighting towards the end of the evening was simply divine.
